Partnarch Gorge – Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

Estimated Hiking Time: 35 minutes

Total Distance: .9 miles

Difficulty Level: easy

Weather Conditions: 65 degrees with rain

Germany is filled with so many beautiful sites and scenery throughout the country. My friend Yuri was kind enough to take us to the Partnarch Gorge in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was pouring rain that day but we were lucky enough to find parking a few yards from the trail entrance. The gorge itself is 2,303 ft long and up to 260 ft deep. There is a railed path that takes you from the entrance to the end of the gorge. It was so beautiful inside and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Belu tried to capture the beauty of it all but I honestly think that photos do not do this place justice.

Entrance to the trail. The cost to enter is 3.50 Euros. There is a person in the booth collecting tickets. entrance copy

Notice the beautiful color of the water? It is a crystal green hue throughout the gorge.

It was such a cool experience going through the caves. Some of the areas were pitch black and definitely a bit scary not being able to see. But the caves are not very long. I would bring a flashlight if you are afraid of the dark.

I received this Jack Wolfskin jacket from my friend Yuri. I’m so thankful for it. The jacket kept me dry from the rain and was light and not bulky. It even comes with a little pouch for easy packing. Plus the pretty purple color definitely makes it pop!

Every opening on the trail is a great photo opportunity. The lighting was just gorgeous here.

Since it was raining, the water was roaring throughout the gorge. It gets a bit slippery on the trail. Be sure to wear proper shoes if you visit.

After .4 miles, we made it to the end of the gorge. It’s definitely an easy trail and great for families. The view from outside the gorge was stunning as well.

This is the view from right outside the gorge. If you look closely, you can see the entrance through the tunnel. It is such a beautiful trail. One of the most beautiful places I have been lucky enough to visit. Definitely a must do if you are in the area.
